Can too much Protein cause hair loss?
How much is too much in a day.
The amount of protein a person needs in their diet can vary based on several factors, including age, sex, weight,
physical activity level, and overall health. The Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) for protein intake is a general
guideline provided by health authorities. As of my last knowledge update in January 2022, the RDA for protein for
most adults is 0.8 grams of protein per kilogram of body weight per day.
However, individual protein needs may differ. Athletes, pregnant or breastfeeding women, and individuals recovering
from illness or surgery may require more protein. Some researchers and fitness experts suggest higher protein intake
for those engaged in intense physical activity, aiming for 1.2 to 2.2 grams of protein per kilogram of body weight.
It's essential to consult with a healthcare professional, a registered dietitian, or a nutritionist to determine your specific
protein needs based on your individual circumstances and health goals. They can provide personalized
recommendations based on your unique factors and dietary preferences.
But what is considered too much protein causing higher DHT levels. Although body weights can vary this amount 50-
80 grams per day can make you anabolic which can lead to hair loss.
The type of protein can lead to increased DHT levels such as Branched Chain amino acids.
