Is Cold Weather a Culprit for Hair Loss in Winter?
Winter is upon us. Its cold outside and temperatures can go as low as -10 degrees Fahrenheit. But does this cause thinning hair and rapid hair loss.
Are there certain times of year that shedding is worse.? So is Seasonal Shedding Real. Or are we imagining our hair getting thinner because we are outside in the extreme cold or heat. Could our hair be falling out at a more rapid rate?
What can we do to stop the phenomena?
Seasonal Shedding has been reported in the following study.
Most notably during the summer time.
"Analysis of trichograms demonstrated annual periodicity in the growth and shedding of hair, manifested by a maximal proportion of telogen hairs in summer."
"After exclusion of patients with a disease or on drugs known to cause hair loss, 823 women remained. Analysis of trichograms demonstrated annual periodicity in the growth and shedding of hair, manifested by a maximal proportion of telogen hairs in summer. A second peak seems to exist, though it is less pronounced, in spring. The telogen rates were lowest in late winter."
Part of understanding hair loss is detecting it at an early stage. If we can can treat it early we stand a greater chance of slowing or preventing the entire process. One factor in determining hair loss is the amount of hair falling out on a daily basis. We all have some shedding but hair loss of over 150 a day is considered real hair loss and should be treated as soon as possible.
A review of your supplements and medications is necessary and seeking medical help is sometiems necessary because underlying medical problems could aggravate your hair loss. Treating early on allows possible reversal of your hair loss.
Since winter is upon us shedding may be less of an issue. But other winter conditions such as Seborrhea Dermatitis can be aggravated which can cause hair loss. This should be treated early with our Help Hair Zinc Dandruff Shampoo.
Feedback from our Help Hair customers has shown daily use of Help Hair Shake and Help Hair Vitamin will slow or eliminate shedding from dry scaly scalp when used with our Help Hair Zinc Dandruff Shampoo. If you are losing hair because of the scaly scalp we suggest starting Help Hair Products on a daily basis.
And we would suggest seeking treatment from one of our Help Hair Clinics to discuss your hairloss problems.
